Daan Viljoen Game Park’s larger mammals include Giraffe, Mountain Zebra, Kudu, Oryx, Eland, Red Hartebeest, Springbok, Blue Wildebeest, Black Back Jackal, Baboons and Warthog.

More than 200 different species of native birds have been recorded at Daan Viljoen Gamer Park. Some of these are Monteiro’s hornbill, crimson-breasted shrike, black eagle, fish eagle and occasional black stork. Birdwatchers will notice many endemic species along the rocky trails, including rock runners, Carp’s black tit, white-tailed shrike and rosy-faced lovebirds. Nest boxes have been erected at various points in the Game Park mainly for the purposes of studying hornbills. These projects have run for more than 15 years and have attracted international experts from the United Kingdom, the United States and Denmark. Please do not disturb or approached the boxes as several studies are still on-going.
